This is the number one challenge that women have in the early postpartum period, as there is only so much one can do to educate and prepare themselves for the breastfeeding experience, and it takes both the mother and the baby as a team to make things go smoothly.

A sound knowledge of supports available in the community is essential when helping a new mother.

The main breastfeeding concerns/problems are related to latching, supply, frequency, duration and weaning.
