Parental Leave Support Program

Are you pregnant, adopting, or thinking of starting a family?

If so, you may be considering how to best balance family and your work life. This web resource will provide you with information and resources as you plan the next steps in this unique time in your life. The Parental Leave Support Program was developed by the Equity Office and the Gender Equity Committee of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society. The program consists of the following services:

  • Up to six parental leave coaching sessions with the Equity Officer or a trained coach from the Gender Equity Committee or the Lawyers Assistance Program;
  • The opportunity to meet one on one and discuss your experience with another lawyer who has taken maternity and/or parental leave and is willing to share their experience and advice;
  • The information and resources available through this website.

Special thanks to Trena Slaunwhite Gallant, a prenatal/postnatal support worker and certified Child Birth Educator for her coaching, information and advice.
